Laptop case with Vintage Vogue

Vintage Vogue has got to be one of my favorite fabric collections. Love it, love it, love it! I bought a fat quarter collection that has been waiting for the right quilt design. But, I thought I'd hardly notice a 2" strip cut down each side! Look at all the fabric that gave me!
Ever since I was given a laptop at work, I've been dying to make a simple case. I love incorporating linen into my projects and this seemed like a good time to do just that.
My other desire was to quilt uneven parallel lines. Surprisingly, it wasn't even that tedious. I definitely need to work on my zipper technique though - this one is not perfect, but it's for me, so I'll put up with it :(.

I'm Bacccckkkk!!!

How did a year go by? OMGosh, I don't know, but lately we've been sew busy!
First up is our Camping Quilt. We always wanted to have one after viewing all those great camping fabric collections. Finally, I saw Smore Lovin' in a fat quarter bundle and snatched it up. Also on my bucket list was to design a quilt using a dark background. This collection lent itself to dark teal and away we went. It went together quite fast, but then we decided to make it puffy and sandwiched it with 1/2 inch batting - plus the minky dot! OMGosh, this was not going to fit under my machine! With the help of my teenager, we were able to pull and push the sandwich through and swing it left and right to create the wavy quilting. It's not perfect, but it's ours and we love it!

These photos were taken at Itasca State Park in Minnesota on the weekend of September 20th. Nightly lows were almost in the 30's. We needed that 1/2 inch batting!

Happy Birthday to the country and my Mom!

I made this table topper using Old Glory Collection and linen. This was the first project where I quilted every square inch of negative space. I quilted the mini charms with meandering, pebbles in the corners, and squares in the borders. Everyone calls that Greek key work, but I believe that fights the patriotic theme. My sissy gave me the best compliment here 'you took fuddy duddy fabrics and made them modern!'. Goal achieved.

Laina's pillow

Last year, Laina forced me to sew her a patchwork quilt. We'd been inspired by the church of my youth, where the ladies there had produced 125 quilts to commemorate the church's anniversary. Well, these quilts seemed easy enough so we popped over to JoAnns and started the project. When you sew for Laina, she keeps you moving. In six hours this quilt was done! Now many months later, I'm obsessed with all things quilted, Pinterest, and the online quilt bloggers. I shamelessly copied the design of this matching pillow right from Pinterest.

I'm on Etsy!

I've taken a big step today and completed all the details needed for an Etsy shop. It really wasn't as hard as I had envisioned and I'm thrilled to be considered a 'shop owner'. Here's one of the two items I posted for sale.

A little more Christmas

Here's just a fun picture of a few little owls I made last Christmas. This was my first Pinterest project. During the week of vacation, I made about 6 of them. Even my Dad thought they were pretty darn cute!
